Diagnostic imaging to best treat your pet
At Austin Animal Medical Center, we are proud to be on the cutting edge of medical technology. Radiology is a technique and diagnostic tool that we use to look inside the body in a completely non-invasive way. Radiology allows us to create images of all the body’s organs. It’s an important diagnostic tool that helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness and injury.
What is veterinary radiology?
Veterinary radiology is much the same as human radiology, and includes magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, computed tomography (CT) scans, ultrasounds, nuclear medicine scans, and radiographs (x-rays). These diagnostic tools allow us to see inside your pet’s body without surgery to visualize bones and organs.
Is radiology safe?
The use of radiology is safe and our doctors and technicians are highly trained. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of medical care possible, and this is just one of the many ways we achieve that.
Why does your pet need radiology services?
We use radiology to help us identify a wide range of problems, including, but not limited to, heart conditions, broken bones, blood clots, and gastrointestinal conditions. Diagnostic radiology can also screen for cancers. And, of course, we can use ultrasound to check on puppies and kittens in-utero.
If your pet is experiencing unexplainable pain, lethargy, or other out-of-the-ordinary symptoms, Austin Animal Medical Center doctors and technicians may be able to use radiology to discover the problem. If your pet is acting unusually, call us at 512-832-4119!
